Baseball season has officially begun

Maybe its because I've played softball pretty much my entire life.
Maybe its because pretty much my entire family loves baseball (and the Angels especially).  Maybe its because of the family atmosphere and the fact that, starting today, anything is possible...Whatever it is, I get SUPER excited for this day, today, to come along every year.  I start getting anxious right around October, pretty much the day immediately following the completion of the World Series.  My life is just different without baseball in it everyday.

I have grown up loving baseball and the Angels.  My parents have brought me to games since a very young age and I have been playing softball of and on since I was 6 years old.  What can I say?  Its in my genes.  Baseball is practically in our family's DNA and I love it.  I love watching the game with my parents, my husband, and my son.  I love the connection I have with my dad while talking ball.  I love that my husband and I both get so excited about the game.  I love watching my son learn more and more about the game everyday, and I love that we're continuing the tradition that will be in our family for a long time to come.

This past Sunday our family had a great day out at the ballpark.  We went to Fanfest, which is basically a day all about the fans.  There were a bunch of booths with different sponsors who had giveaways and contests.  There were players signing autographs.  There were interviews with players on a big stage.  There were interactive games for kids and adults alike.  We had a blast!  We went home with so much great stuff and with huge smiles on our faces (and tired feet as well).  After the fanfest we also got to go to a pre-season game at the stadium.  All this for a mere $5 and it was SO worth it!

My boy and I enjoying the game!

My husband and I watching the game together  :)

Some of the free stuff we got: stickers, license plate frames, baseballs, bags, hats, a puzzle, a banner, a bunch of coupons.  So fun!

Four generations of baseball fans

The weather was a little crazy, but we didnt let it damper our fun :)

Birthday Extravaganza

My birthday was just last week and it got me thinking how blessed I am with family.  Not only do I have my amazing little nuclear family, but I have my immediate family, my extended family, my in-laws, and my husbands extended family.  So basically last week I had a few different celebrations with all my different "families" and there's still more to come.

First, for my actual birthday, Thursday March 10th, we went to, where else, Disneyland.  Those who know me, know that I spend a fair amount of time there.  I would say I go there about 3-4 times a month.  To some people this seems crazy, but to others its pretty normal, especially to my other passholder friends out there.  :)  Anyway, so we got to Disneyland around 1pm, it was me, my husband Jake, my son Landon, my mom, and my grandma.  My mom and grandma stayed for a few hours and then they took Landon home so me and the hubs could have a disneyland date night!  It was such an amazing day, especially because the crowds were not too bad and we were able to ride a lot of rides and just enjoy the park without having to weave in and out of too many people.  Jake and I ended the night with dinner @ Denny's (which was free for me because it was my birthday, yay!)  All in all, a great Disney day!

Landon's 1st time on the matterhorn!
My boys, the best gift of all!

So then, the next day, Friday, we went to my in-laws house for dinner and dessert!  It was so nice to have that time with them.  They are so good to me.  I truly have thee BEST in-laws!
Then on Saturday, we went with my family (parents, brother, gma, aunt, cousins) to Claim Jumper, yum!  Once again, my dinner was free because it was my birthday (woohoo for an $18 steak, potatoes, mac n cheese, and cheesy bread meal for free!)  Such a great time with the fam.
And coming up this Saturday is the finale of my birthday celebrations.  My husbands family always gets together once a month to celebrate whoevers birthday is that particular month.  It has been so nice to be a part of this tradition for the last 4 years or so, and its always nice because the celebration is usually towards the end of the month, so even when my actual bday is over, I still have one more party to look forward to.
I just LOVE birthdays, something about them is so special.  It is the one day a year that you don't have to share with anyone else and you can just take the day a little easier (in my case week, or maybe even month, lol).  In fact, I even told my husband last week that I didn't feel like cleaning one particular day because it was my birthday week, haha.  Ya, he thought it was pretty funny.

All in all, I am just so thankful for all of my family that I am so blessed to have.  I appreciate everything all of you do to make my life that much sweeter!  Love you all!

Here Goes Nothing

I've been thinking of starting a blog for what seems like forever, but somehow I never got around to getting it going.  I figured its about time, and since everyone I know is starting one, I better just tell myself, "It's ok to sit at the computer and write about your day."  I guess I like the idea of blogging, but trying to sit down and write the "right" things, makes me nervous.  "Am I going to sound dumb" or "Am I really going to have fun and interesting things to talk about" were questions that constantly filled my head, but I have decided that I'm going to do this whole blogging thing for me.  If other people read it and like it, that's great, but if they don't, then thats okay too.

So basically a little about me:  I have been married for about 3 years.  We have a 2 year old son who is the light of our life.  I am so blessed to be able to stay home with him and just spend my day wrapped up in him and our family life, with an occasional load of laundry thrown in :)  I go to Sunrise Church in Rialto and have been going there for almost 10 years.  I love this church because there is always opportunity for growth, whether through classes, ministry, or fellowship.  It is also where my husband and I met, which gives it a special place in my ♥.  At Sunrise, I volunteer in the nursery, am part of the cookie ministry, and play softball in the sports ministry.  I LOVE all things baseball.  My team has been and always will be the Angels.  What can I say, it is a family tradition :)  I also LOVE going to Disneyland and pretty much anything Disney-related.  Our family goes to Disneyland about 3-4 times a month.  Some people think that's a little crazy, but to us its just normal, its been that way for years.

Well that is just a little about me.  I look forward to this journey and seeing where it takes me...
